We should take down the new statue in NYC of Shaniqua and replace it with Robert E. Lee
I was there, in Charlottesville, to protest the tearing down of the statue, along with the unilateral decision to rename Lee Park (see my video of ANTIFA and BLM starting violence and attacking me for simply walking around filming). The city put out a survey to residents, asking what the parks should be renamed to - the options were Obama Park, Black Lives Matter Park, Rosa Parks Park, etc., then there was a write-in option. I wrote in "Lee Park." I kid you not, the next week a new poll was sent around asking the same question, but this time the question specifically stated "Lee Park will not be considered." Hashtag Democracy
I went to Robert E Lee HS. It had been named that for over 50 years. They renamed it to a hispanic woman no one had ever heard of a few years ago. Lee was a great man and was hugely popular after the war from both the North and the South.
Robert E Lee garnered mass respect from both sides of the Civil War.
It's easier for me to wrap my mind around the mindset of men back then than it is to wrap my mind around the mindset of the... people... of today.
The Columbus Statues need to be put back up too.
It never ceases to amaze the salaries teachers command, and how ignorant students are after graduating from school.
Thank you. I am a Virginian and I cannot express my feelings when Lee's statue on monument avenue was destroyed.
When I had U.S. history in 7th grade everyone told me to watch out because my teacher was more on the left side. Honestly up until that point I had no compassion for the South. I had never really been taught the full story of the Civil War. It was my 7th grade teacher that made me realize the Confederates were not evil, they were honorable men, many were poor farmers who wanted states rights. She is the reason I know the truth. I'm not saying we agreed on everything (because we didn't), but she's still one of my favorite teachers.
Great move. Only idiots change names to hide history they may not like.
