I'd rather go back to no income tax and no IRS.

give them a cut on their income tax like Hungary. dishing out to a bunch of welfare moms trying to cash in is a bad idea

The welfare state doesn't need a new grift. I knew a lady at my first job who had 4 kids with different baby daddy's and was pregnant. She said she gets extra money per month for every kid. No father in the home, the kids will end up in gangs. Don't need more of that.

Terrible idea imo. Is anyone in favor of smaller government anymore?

They should also eliminate taxes on items for baby’s too. Like baby food, baby gear, baby clothes etc

I agree with other commenters, we should not be paying for children. Addressing living cost, let’s start with health insurance/health care cost. Lets lower the tax burden, lets get corporations out of real estate so there are more homes available on a free open market rather than a market controlled by equity firms or holding companies. Consider policies that lower energy cost/increase supply. Nuclear innovations that reduce the environmental risk would be worth considering. Change the social messaging, marriage and family matter. Address the root deterrents rather than trying to incentivize to overcome deterrents

$5000 is a joke. Lower the cost of living if you want more children.

5K For having a kid. How much for making sure the parents stay around and actually raise the child 🤔

We had a scheme in Australia called the "baby bonus", not sure what it is now, but then used to give $3k to new mothers to help pay for baby things. The problem was, all the mothers (and some fathers) were going on holidays and buying big flat screen TVs then couldn't afford nappies (diapers for you Americans), and other essentials. I think they stopped giving the lump sum and started paying it out weekly over 6 months or something similar in order that it should be spent as intended.
