I remember as a 14 year old celebrating the bi-centennial in 1976. What a different planet it was then.
The Dems just spent years pulling down statues about our history and putting up ugly alien things in their place
It's a shame. I remember in 1976 I lived in a small town, and one of my neighbors, a farmer, had their whole barn and silo painted like an American flag. Patriotism++
When I was a little girl (I am now 78) my mother or my father would read to me every night at bedtime. When you mentioned Daniel Boone I remembered that they often read from a book called “American Heroes”, a book for children that outlined the lives of remarkable early Americans. Daniel Boone was included in the book.
As a Canadian who LOVES America and its constitution- the US-haters who live in America absolutely disgust me beyond words.
In 1976, in Chicago, the fire hydrants and police cars were painted red, white, and blue. Commercial played daily, honoring the first 200 years. What a change in a short period of time.
My hometown just "celebrated" our 150th anniversary. No parade. No festival. No fanfare. No effort put into the pride, history or preservation of local memories of the town I grew up in back in the 80s and 90s. No one cares anymore. No one feels a connection anymore. It's sad
The city I live in canceled the July 4th fireworks- budget constraints…… plenty of $ for other crap. Sickening
Daniel Boone was my 5th great uncle. I actually look a lot like him. His life and that of two other long hunters, Simon Kenton and Elisha Wallen, provided continued family history stories. It was a foundational time period for America. Thank you so much for bringing this up.
The country was sold out by the corporate elite. The government was infiltrated by foreign enemies.
