Description

A Fourth of July image, a grieving family, and a nation forced to confront the evidence it too often tries to erase. Today on ELLA: Black and Brown Women Disruptors in Healthcare and Beyond, Dr. Haydée Brown and Dr. Sonya Sloan examine the death of Nolan Wells, why his family requested an independent autopsy, the enduring legacy of Emmett Till, and the growing debate over how America remembers its history. Through the lens of medicine, public health, and civil rights, they explore why data, documentation, and truth matter—and what happens when the evidence disappears. This episode connects the body, the museum, and the record of history in a conversation about justice, accountability, and why some stories must never be buried. Several hangings of black persons have taken place in US have gone under the radar whose cases are still pending. Persons at the pool party who witnessed Nolan beaten with metal object are beginning to give their account of what happened on social media. His corpse was taken back to the island to cover up his death. Arrests expected

Sobering but so important…all of it. Emmett Till’s story still isn’t known by anywhere near enough folks. The Confederacy never went away. Thank you ladies.

It's all too much.. the hatred.. the violence.. the racism.. the cruelty.. the corruption.. the division.. everything. I find it hard to breathe anymore, my heart is too heavy. God bless Nolan Wells may he rest in peace and love.. and God bless his family and give them the strength to get through their tragic loss. And may we all see justice take place, for Nolan's life being taken from him. 💔🙏
