He doesn’t want smart, qualified, knowledgeable people in the military, so he can get away with his crimes. Also, taking away higher education for active duty military members is terrifying. They gain critical thinking skills that will benefit everyone who serves, instead of being robots.
They don’t want intelligent, thinking, educated officers. They want unthinking loyalists.
