Gibili is not Japanese animation Gibili is a particular studio, who are responsible for some of the best Japanese animated movies of all time, they are as good to better then old Disney.

You need to watch some Ghibli movies with your kids, Michael! Watch Spirited Away, Howels Moving Castle, or Totoro

Oh, Michael. I echo what many others are saying. You need to look into the work Studio Ghibli has put out. The style and animation is incredible, and the themes covered in the movies are remarkable. These are not mere "children's movies". They did not shy away from trauma and danger.

Michael, how out of touch do you have to be to say animation is for kids???? Also Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio not a form of animation. I highly recommend that you watch Spirited Away and dare you to tell me that's a movie just for kids.

It’s clear to me that you don’t fully grasp why the Ghibli style resonates, and most likely because you haven’t experienced Studio Ghibli movies firsthand. The studio’s style is very artistic, emotional, and can be quite cute. But the stories are full of heavy messages, violence, death. They aren’t only for children. Some would be much too dark for children to watch at all. Look up Grave of the Fireflies if you don’t believe me. In Japan, animation is seen as just another form of media, and saying it’s for kids would be like saying books are just for kids, or television is just for kids. Still, in a Ghibli movie, the stories tend to be romanticized. The moral stands, even if the ending isn’t happy. Even if the long awaited bride dies before the wedding day, or the main characters starve, or the forest princess never marries the prince, the moral still stands. And I think that’s what people are clinging to when they see these pictures. Yes they’re dark, but in Ghibli style, you can still believe there’s good in the world in spite of it.

Poor Miyazaki, I feel like seeing his style used this way must be so surreal.

Animation if full of sexual innuendo, no Ghibli, they've always been family friendly, even though they have done some rather serious stuff.
