Glad you made this video, I think most of the community feels exactly like this.
Theyโre describing addiction. This is a study in addiction.
"This is your brain. This is your brain on AI." (tap, tap, crack)(sizzle) "Any questions?"
Matt, this video really resonated with me. Iโm not a developer or an AI YouTuber, just someone who hoped AI might compensate for my own limitations. I struggle with procrastination, slow thinking, and a weak memory. When AI tools appeared, I honestly believed they might help me manage projects I couldnโt handle alone. Instead I often ended up more overwhelmed, juggling too many tools and decisions, exactly like you described. The research you cited matches what cognitive science calls โcognitive offloading.โ Humans naturally outsource mental tasks to tools, but if we outsource too much, the underlying skill weakens because the brain stops practicing it. That doesnโt mean the technology is bad, but it means the way we use it matters. What helped me a bit was following the same principle you mentioned. Think first, then use AI as a tool rather than a replacement (which is what I did with this comment). The studies you referenced suggest the people who benefit most are the ones who keep the thinking part human and let AI assist only afterward. So thanks for making this video. Itโs refreshing to hear someone in the AI space talk honestly about the downsides instead of just repeating the hype. ๐๐ผ๐
Without health, what's the point of Ai
My brain was already fried. Always difficult to think and organize my thoughts, to put my thoughts down to paper. AI has changed my life. Iโm now able to function like a normal person.
can confirm my ability to sit with boredom is completely gone. if thatโs not brain rot i donโt know what is
100% agree with the fact that i am more tired because i am producing more and need to think about the deeper problems, the more complex problems more. Getting menial work out of the way sounds good before you understand that it doesn't mean you do less work, you just do less easy work :)
Iโm had to walk away for a year. It burned me out
19:45 I love pen&paper, I always take a notebook with me everywhere I go.
