22:17 shoutout to Maria Orosa, Filipina food technologist and war hero for creating banana ketchup (amongst many other accomplishments that saved so many lives especially during wartime)
If Nicole doesn’t like the vermicelli noodles in the palabok, she might like Pancit Malabon. It has the same sauce as the Palabok but the noodles are thicker. Its also make from rice like vermicelli but its thicker. Like maybe double or triple the thickness of a spaghetti. Josh should make it for Nicole.
As a Filipino, thank you for doing your research. Your pronunciations are on point, and thanks for highlighting our food! Y'all are invited to the Filipino party any time! 😊
I have a ton of Filipeno students, and I love it when they bring food in Jollibee is a favourite but they also bring in home-cooked food as well.
Here’s a tip: using calamansi instead of lemon really elevates the flavor of that palabok imo.
Using your hands with the rice was a very Filipino move, Josh! 👏🏽👏🏽
"Do you wanna swallow?" "No but thank you for asking" So innocent. 😆
Josh and Nicole go to the Philippines one day and just have an absolute food tour. They can start at Jollibee then go to actual restaurants, lutong-bahay (homecooked) eateries, native restaurants, etc.
I love reminding people who get their minds blown by Jollibees palabok thats its just the fast food version. Homemade is 1000x better, especially if you get real calamansi. Always the first thing to go at parties
