Marco Rubio says Ukraine-Russia conflict is ‘not our war’: Full interview
US Strategy: Prioritizing a Full Peace Deal Over Immediate Ceasefire in Ukraine Conflict
Understand the administration's high-stakes diplomatic calculus for ending the Ukraine war, which prioritizes verifiable peace over immediate cessation of hostilities and explains why new sanctions could jeopardize these efforts.
Short Summary
- Achieve a comprehensive peace deal is the ultimate goal, superseding a mere ceasefire.
- Existing sanctions against Russia remain severe, but imposing new ones now risks halting all negotiation progress.
- Success hinges on constructing enforceable and verifiable mechanisms, given historical distrust of Russian commitments.
- Key elements for negotiation include defining future borders, ensuring long-term Ukrainian security, and establishing rebuilding frameworks.
This discussion centers on Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s assessment of the ongoing peace talks involving President Trump and President Putin. It clarifies the current diplomatic strategy: aiming for a final resolution rather than an interim truce, while navigating the delicate balance between maintaining pressure (sanctions) and keeping channels open for Moscow. The core challenge is ensuring any agreement is durable and irreversible.

Really, why did the US sign a document guaranteeing Ukraines security in 1994 in exchange for the #3 largest nuclear arsenal in the world. The US has Ukrainians blood on its hands if it abandons them and not only that American diplomatic credibility hangs in the balance.
And this is how allies are betrayed!
Rubio if you don't want to be there then just decline the invitation.
Reporter should have asked why was the red carpet treatment given
3:26 The Rubio's reaction speaks for itself 😂😂😂
Ukrainians and EU/UN Liberalists are writing too much. Liberal politicians enjoy the hobby of saving the world's poor with the money they have made their own people poor, while they live in luxury. It's far better that powerful countries protect their own people.
It is really important to bring this war to a JUST end.
Went from I can end the war in 24 hours to this is not our war😂😂😂
Funny how they played the video of Rubio as a young senator than putting the camera back on his face now 😂
