Star Wars is DEAD! Is Hollywood Killing Pop Culture? WB for sale - Friday Night Tights 377
Disney Star Wars Failure, Warner Bros. Sale, and the Point Pop Culture Died
Analyze why Disney’s Star Wars continues to fail, discuss the potential sale of Warner Bros. Discovery, and pinpoint the exact years (2007–2008) when mainstream cinematic output reached its irrefutable peak before collapsing.
Short Summary
- Detail how internally praised but scrapped sequel sequel projects, like a Kylo Ren movie, prove Lucasfilm's systemic leadership failure.
- Examine the $WBD$ consideration for sale, noting the WGA’s hypocritical opposition to the very mergers their strike likely caused.
- Establish 2007–2008 as the undeniable zenith of cinematic output, highlighting the subsequent "fragmented culture" driven by social media and algorithms.
- Provide a positive review of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, noting its commitment to classical, non-modernized storytelling.
The panel discusses the systemic mismanagement at Disney that cost them quality Star Wars projects and pivots to examine the broader environment of declining cultural relevance, contrasting the peak of 2007-2008 entertainment with today's fragmented streaming landscape. They also cover Hollywood industry consolidation, labor union paradoxes, and the critical success of GDT’s Frankenstein.

Orlando Bloom got paid $150,000 for the Lord of the rings trilogy, he said it was the best decision he ever made taking that role
I'm starting to think the reason Henry Cavill was fired by Gunn is because he WOULDN'T sleep with Gunn's wife.
Iger handed Kathleen the rope. Kathleen happily forced Star Wars onto the gallows, put a noose round its neck (and Indiana Jones and Willow), then pulled the lever to drop the franchise through the trapdoor.
Gundam and Ryan are my fave FNT couple.
A wild Papa Gundam appears, hail the The Fellowship & hail Fluffy!
About Matt Walsh and video games: I used to have a similar opinion as Walsh where I looked down on video games and gamers, and the reason is because I didn't actually play video games. I only knew two things about games: they had awful Hollywood adaptations, and many annoying popular streamers played them. This all changed in 2018 when I developed an illness and suddenly had a lot of free time on my hands. I started playing video games as a distraction, but quickly found myself immersed in the hobby and developing respect for games as an art form. Stuff like Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption, and even Psychonauts had top-tier writing that was impossible for me to deny. Give Matt Walsh a game like Red Dead Redemption, make him play it to the end, and I guarantee he would come away from it with a different perspective on video games.
All roads lead to Jake Skywalker and the knockoff universe.
The spoiler embargo has now been lifted on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel “Frankenstein.”
Ubisoft are asking their employees to resign so they don't have to pay severance
