I am fluent in ASL and worked with deaf people for a number of years. True Deaf culture is one of the most toxic, victim enabling cultures I have ever seen. It fits perfectly with Disney's identity politics. This is a truly pathetic and sad show.

Echo was designed to literally be the yin to Daredevil's yang. A deaf woman who's heightened sense of sight gives her enhanced powers vs a blind man who's heightened sense of hearing gives him enhanced powers. How were the writers so dumb as to not understand that?

Did they really just take an actual nation of people that exists in real life and cast them as more and less a race of magical elves
