Abby Hernandez case: 277 days in captivity, teen girl outsmarts her kidnapper | Drop Dead Serious

At the age of 29 I was abducted from a parking lot in Modesto California the weekend after Thanksgiving in 2011. The guy drugged me and assaulted me for 9 hours then let me go. The detective thought I was lying because the guy let go. I never saw justice and I will never be the person I was before that night. No amount of therapy can give me back what he took from me. Abby is so brave and courageous and I pray for her healing.

She is indeed an intelligent and courageous young girl. So strong!!!

I taught my children if anyone ever tried to kidnap them & said, "If you scream, I will kill you." Respond by saying, "You are going to kill me anyway." & scream as loud as you can!

I’ve lived in NH since 2001, not that far from North Conway. While Kibby is a monster, I’m so glad he didn’t kill her. Most girls taken like Abby never come home

Ashleigh, according to Abby herself, Kibby only showed the gun to her after she got into the car. I correct you only because this is another opportunity to tell children to NEVER get into a car with a stranger!

I thank God that Abby made it out...she's a real inspiration. New Year's Eve, 20 years ago I was kidnapped by a pimp at 18. I can't imagine being 14 and going through anything like that. I am thankful that he had me watch the movie American Pimp the first night, and I realized it was a mind game, and I had to get him to trust me. He beat me the first night because I tried talking to someone at a New Year's Eve party we had to go to. I'm thankful that he was one that posted photos on a website and didn't make me work the streets. I'm so thankful he got so many phone calls for me the first night that he said it was too much and the next night I'd have to work out of a hotel room. He was going to stay with me until the first client came but I got him to trust me enough to leave me until the first client came. As soon as I knew he was really gone I ran down to the front desk and they called 911. I ended up setting him up with an undercover officer that night pretending to be a client because I didn't want him to do this to some other girl. He ended up pleading guilty and got 8 years in prison. I truly hope that he didn't go back to what he was doing.

OK kids, listen up. Run, scream, bite, kick; but do not ever GO with an abductor. They scare you with the gun; so that you WILL GO. It gets much worse where they take you. They take you somewhere, where no one can see or hear you. They do this so that they can keep you a prisoner and a slave, for purposes of torture. Torture is worse than death, as anyone who has ever been tortured knows. With the torture, they alter your personality and steal portions of your soul. Just do not go. Run, you can outrun almost any adult, especially a fat one or an old one. Climb a tree. Resist your fear and save yourself. Please.
