One of the go-to places these people, and maybe you as well, wish to go to is, without a doubt, Europe. But before you pack your bags and jump on a plane, there are some things to consider. In this episode, we will go through the Economist's list of the most livable cities on the continent and discuss how we should go about examining these findings. While these results might be reflective for some people, they often miss the mark when it comes to high-net-worth individuals. So let's talk about it openly and ask the question, will I be treated best in Europe? 00:00 It's Not as Easy as Packing Your Bags 02:35 The Economist Index 03:06 Are These the Best? 07:18 If You're Going to Move, Move! 11:32 Pretty Good? Maybe Pretty Perfect! 13:28 Should We Rate Europe This High? Nomad Capitalist helps clients "go where you're treated best". Lived as an expat in The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, India, Egypt and for the last few years Bulgaria, which is by far the easiest and welcoming country we have lived. The residence process is simple, the authorities leave you alone and the tax system is a flat 10% on income, 5% in dividends and 0% (zero) on capital gains made from investments on any EU stock exchange. Great people, beautiful nature and cities, great food, low cost of living and easy access to the rest of Europe.

After 28 years of living in Canada, we finally moved to Cannes, France. The beautiful weather, fantastic Mediterranean cuisine, and polite people have made our transition enjoyable. We also appreciate the opportunity to travel by train whenever we want. My only regret is that we did not make this move earlier. Obtaining a long-stay visa was straightforward; it allows us to stay for a year without the need to relocate every time. We can reapply for this visa annually, and after five years, we will be eligible for permanent residency. We purchased medical insurance for both of us, which cost C$1,400 for one year. A doctor's visit costs €80, making healthcare very affordable here.

My philosophy is if you feel trapped - get out while you can. Visas are one thing - being able to move funds for living and investing is the elephant in the room !! If you can’t move it you don’t own it! A visa without funds to live on is useless. Start moving your funds people…

Saying Oman has “better weather” is spoken like a person who never lived through its summers. I love Oman, but not for the weather.
