Massive props to the uBlock team for immediately fixing the issue.
i find it funny how youtube thinks this is worse for adblock users, but what they fail to realise is that the slowdowns are still quicker than having to sit through their 2 minutes of ads because theyre that greedy
Can only imagine how good it must have felt for the dude at uBlock that instantly caught the bug and fixed it effectively making his product work leagues better than the competitors in an instant. That's a 10x engineer moment right there.
Nothing is more bothersome than listening to the audio go at a normal pace only for the YouTube video to speed up and throw everything out of sync
The fact that they're doing this right in the middle of their biggest anti-trust lawsuit is hilarious.
Not only are the videos running slow for ad blockers, but for people that don't have ad blocker and wish to report an ad and then manually block it (so that youtube skips the ad entirely), the page takes a full 5 seconds to load before you can block it. Making the page stay up for as long as the advertisement would have originally stayed up. A few months back this was not an issue at all, and I used the report ad option to skip ads all the time. But I believe youtube has purposely made the report page load longer to stop manually ad block abuse. They REALLY want people to see their shitty ads.
i love how the more youtube tries to prevent adblockers, the more users begin using adblockers
I for one appreciate YouTube's contribution to the adblock scene. Really keeping adblock devs on their toes and making sure they aren't falling behind the times.
This is actually so criminal on Youtube's end. Youtube would slow down my entire pc pretty badly, so I went online to find any solutions not knowing the cause and had to reset EVERYTHING. Deleted apps, downloaded different browsers (thinking it was just chrome) etc. Only for everything to go back to normal once I turned off adblock. This wasted so much of my time and caused so much panic, this is genuinely awful
youtube is glitching out as well, shorts turn black and videos disappear on my home screen while ad blocker is on
