Extreme Reddit Moderator Power Trip and Systemic Failure on r/Art
Discover how minor comments about selling art prints led to an artist being banned, experiencing mass post deletion, and subsequent site-wide discipline orchestrated by an abusive moderator.
Short Summary
- Artist Hayden Clay faced total history deletion and a three-day site ban for linking comments about print availability.
- Mods on r/art exhibit tyrannical behavior, silencing users who question removals or refuse to comply with arbitrary actions, leading to users being muted for asking simple questions.
- The system fails, as Reddit admins upheld the mod's fraudulent harassment report, highlighting systemic lax oversight for volunteer moderators. This content details the alarming reality of perceived moderator power on niche subreddits, using recent examples from r/art to illustrate the abuse of authority against content creators.

“Power tripping reddit mod” Fork found in kitchen
I got perma banned from Reddit because I called a moderator racist after they called me a racial slur in dm. I have no faith in Reddit mods and admins.
This video is devastating to them because they can’t ban Charlie for making fun of them
Update: all the comments are locked again and the mods left a temper tantrum message that just says “we out. You win, we all resign”
They say absolute power corrupts, but really it's when someone gains a droplet of authority that they go fully autocratic
How DARE an ART subreddit allow ARTISTS to help people find their ART.
The sole sentence "AI could do it better in less time" coming from a moderator of a subreddit dedicated to art and where AI is forbidden should be enough to just ban that guy from even opening the subreddit. What a shithole.
With minimal power comes a giant fucking ego
The fact that the reddit ADMINS sided with the r/art mod tells you everything you need to know, Reddit is run by the neckbeards
The most unacceptable thing on Reddit is that mod DMs don't tell you what mod you're interacting with. That should NEVER be the case for something like this, it completely protects corruption.
