didn't know resident evil dev released a fully finished ubisoft game
8:51 The gorillas appearing got me crying, its like a scene from Scary Movie series
Elza Walker “comes back” as a skin for Claire in RE2R
It's really remarkable how fans managed to cobble together a scrapped beta into practically a full game. Fandoms can be impressive sometimes.
Crazy that Elza is taller than Charlie
My favorite character in the Resident universe is Elza Walker. It was Claire before but knowing it is Claire 1.0 before she got finished I'm even more obsessed with her story. I can see why a team bought the scrapped demo, built it back and released this version when a bad egg tried to make a profit off it. Shoutout to IGAS restorations for preserving this lost relic and another reason why we need to keep game preservations legal for everyone
Resident Evil 1.5, a prototype version of Resident Evil 2, was scrapped because the development team became dissatisfied with the game's overall quality and lack of fun. Despite being 60-80% complete, the team felt that "no one element was specifically boring, just everything as a whole". This led to a complete restart of development, resulting in the Resident Evil 2 we know today
7:59 damn Roy sure looks like Leon 😂
damn if i knew he was playing this i would have gave some tips in the chat. the game was cancelled at 80% but the build we found was only 40% done. the version he played is a restore project based on magazine images and original dev feed back. theres no real gameplay progression yet. just isolated cutscenes you can trigger if you go to the right place at the right time. also if he timed closing one of those shutters directly on a zombie it cuts them in half which is super satisfying. in the final fan version they plan on inserting findable bullet proof vests that increase defense and use the final game limping system.
This game may be unfinished and bad, but the OG resident evil atmosphere is still there and I love it.
