VShojo went from "Top 3 creator organizations on twitch" to "Has zero streamers under their banner and their name is mud; their staff are looking for new jobs and the company itself is folding and collapsing" in less than 48 hours. We haven't seen an implosion this catastrophic and devastating in a really long time. At least, not one above sea level.
It is worth noting that the "CEO of VShojo Japan" is more of a branch manager, the American branch is the head of the business
KSon quitting live, calling the JP Branch CEO and interrogating him was a pro gamer move and the ballsiest thing I’ve ever seen someone do. Legend status for sure. The fact that they did her and especially Mouse dirty is disgusting.
Not paying employees, stealing donation money, AND taking advantage of a disabled person is diabolical levels of evil
Btw I’m bilingual as well, the Japanese Branch manager said “we could have paid you and we would’ve been fine” which is why Kson said “then pay me” then he went silent
For KSON’s stream with the JP CEO, Skibuya Kaho did translations for the livestream. The JP and EN branches income were combined into the same account, but EN would hand out the money for employees since they were the main branch. The JP CEO took a pay cut and possibly so did the employees. So while they were profitable, the money would go the EN who would divy it up. He also said that the 500k was possibly used for operational costs. Any long pauses on his side was because he didn’t want to comment on something that would get him in legal trouble with the company or was unsure of the exact details, he wasn’t privy to a lot of the stuff going on at EN financial or otherwise
One 'positive' thing about this is that Vshojo, unlike a lot of other Vtuber agencies, does not take ownership of the model/IP of its talents. Which means all these talents leaving can continue to use the same model/identity going forward without having to 'reincarnate' as would be the case with many other agencies. The whole situation still sucks for all the talents but its a small silver lining to not have to completely 'start over'.
