Note to any buyers, a single hose portable AC unit will blow hot air out of the house. The problem is that it creates low pressure inside the house which draws in more unconditioned outside air through any cracks. So those portable ACs are fighting physics and won't perform as well at cooling your house as they might initially seem.

Hvac engineer here —I used to design ac for clean rooms and surgery. Now I have an hvac company 30 yrs. The reason these are so much more efficient is the hot condenser coils are outside and the cold evaporator coils are inside. Also they are separated by the window in the “u”. A regular window unit has all that in one box and both use 2 fans. With the “u” the condenser fan is in the outside of the “u” so it’s on the other side of the window which means One less fan to listen to. Traditional window units are notoriously inefficient and noisy because of everything being close together in one box with both fans running that you hear. The “u” is a really great idea and mimics a traditional split system. The u works and is more efficient because the condenser heat and evap cold don’t mix. The cold air is going to the house not outside and vice versa

Im really happy you did the amp draw test. Most people over look the power it takes to run these units. Especially in older homes with older electrical systems. Thank you.
