🇷🇺I'm a Russian living in South Africa now🇿🇦, but I visit my homeland at least once a year, and everything you said resonated deeply with me. From the cleanliness and safety to the quality of the food and our painful history — it is true.🙏 My grandmother used to tell me that back in her time people were taught that God was dead and religion had no place in society. None of her six children, including my mother, could be baptized publicly. So they would bring priests into homes in secret so children could be baptized under cover. Our people went through tremendous hardship, but Christianity survived. Russia survived. We even have a saying: "We are Russian, therefore God is with us." 🙏🥹🥰Thank you, Candace, for sharing what you experienced and for showing a side of Russia that many in the West rarely see. My wife had a similar ruptured brain aneurysm while also on her 8 months pregnancy with our first daughter. Will not wish it on my worst enemy. 10 brain surgeries, last one being 10 hours, and 4 years later... She relearned breathing, swallowing, speaking, walking with half her body paralyzed for 6 months, hand-eye motor cortex coordination cos 1 arm paralyzed also . But regardless, I feel blessed, she is my hero. Our daughter has to be extracted after drowning in blood from mommy s uterus ruptured, she was supposed to be brain-dead and mummy dead or worst, but we are still here, we adapted, we all do. Shout out to everyone experiencing a life altering moments, and cones out swinging and stronger. Much love from Malta.
