Description

In this episode, we uncover the truth behind Japan’s incredible customer service. It goes way beyond politeness. We break down the cultural mindset that shapes everyday experiences, from why tea isn’t sweet in Japan, to why tipping doesn’t exist, and even how small customs like お通し (otoshi) work at restaurants. We also talk about Japan’s obsession with point cards, why eating on trains is frowned upon, and how these unspoken rules create a smoother, more respectful service culture for everyone. What you’ll learn: - What お通し really is - Why tipping can actually be seen as rude in Japan - The reason unsweetened tea is the default - How point cards influence customer loyalty - Why people avoid eating on trains - The deeper philosophy behind Japan’s customer-first mindset 凸凹凸凹凸凹凸凹凸凹凸凹SUBSCRIBE!!凸凹凸凹凸凹凸凹凸凹凸凹凸 Special thanks again to Tokyo Treat and Sakuraco for sponsoring this video! 🎁 Sign up for the #Sakuraco prepaid plan at: https://team.sakura.co/RRJ and #TokyoTreat prepaid plan at: https://team.tokyotreat.com/RRJ, or use code RRJ to save $5 on your first order.

luke-warm take: tipping culture is more crazy than not having a tipping culture. businesses should be able to pay their workforce a living wage instead of relying on the customers to compensate for their staffs shit income
