What I actually saw on TikTok is that it definitely has to be Dina because they're directly referencing Part II. During Seattle Day 1 Dina talks about how when she arrived in Jackson she was terrified because there were so many people and Ellie told her how she spent the first week gorging on food since she hadn't been able to eat much before. Then Dina says that she saw her and remembers it. So this is definitely a game reference
15:50 the dog we meet at the dam in Part 1 (and I believe it's the same dog that Ellie pets in Part 2) was named Buckley. While filming the game, Troy Baker's dog, Buckley, passed away. So Druckmann names the dog Buckley in Baker's dog's memory, and for a little surprise for Baker.
As a fan of the game I understand wanting more action in the show, however the show has to be more realistic so when action happens it matters more. Plus, we have two mediums which is great
I like that they play into joel being deaf, considering hes got a mega hearing power in the game
Watching the Inside the Episode short. Joel wasnt experiencing "health," issues. Like Greg said in the reaction its more PTSD, or panic attacks. Showrunners said it was more realizations that Joel was terrified of failing or losing Ellie. Not because he got bad ticker lol.
9:10 yeah, the first game had a number of "deleted scenes". Stuff that they couldn't make work, stuff that was quite far into development but was later trashed for story, pacing reasons, stuff they just didn't have the budget and time for etc. For example: we WERE meant to see the town of Jackson in the first game. They even made concept art for it. But it wasn't feasible because of budget & time constraints. Similarly, the winter dance from Part 2 was supposed to be a full, playable level. It was even quite far into development but was scrapped for pacing. The boar hunt that Ellie writes about in her journal towards the end of the game was also a playable level, but they chose to explore her trauma in a separate way and still included a journal entry about that boar hunt.

The confession to tommy the way he says he’s always failed is such fucking incredible set up for the last episode and the choice joel makes.
Fun fact: the girl singing the Depache Mode's 'never let me down again' cover is actually Craig Mazen's daughter, Jessica.
Menstrual cups can last for up to 20+ years, so that's probably the best gift maria couldve given to Ellie.
