The girlfriend was able to come inside because the storm never happened actually, the radio in the mortuary at the end gives that away. The witch was making them experience things that weren’t actually happening. Such a hidden gem.
At the end she killed the son because by helping the father die it stopped her from completing what she was doing . So basically the father went back on the deal, so she did as well.
Actually, the girlfriend dying is key to the plot. At the beginning of the movie when they find all the bodies at the house, they mention that there wasn't any sign of forced entry, but it seems like they were trying to escape. The witch doesn't kill, she manipulates the people that's around here body into seeing and hearing things that aren't actually there and they wind up killing each other, so the dad thinking he's attacking a corpse but in reality, he accidently killed his son's girlfriend is to try to show the audience what happened to the people at the beginning of the movie. It also makes you question how often this has happened already and the ending makes you feel like there's no end to it, which is a creepy feeling lol.
It's such a brilliant supernatural murder mystery, but it KILLS me what happens to the son and his dad. They were literally just doing their jobs 😭😭😭 I wonder if the witch also killed the son because he didn't quite let the "ritual" finish when her wounds were transferring to the father, so as far as she was concerned the ritual failed and the deal was null and void.
As a daughter of a funeral director, yes. Some of the business is either a part of the house or close to it. My childhood was running around the Home while my dad work. I wasn’t allowed in the back room when they had a body
In Victorian times people were so afraid of being buried alive they would tie a piece of string to a body's finger and run the string up through a hole in the coffin to the base of the headstone, where it would be attached to a bell. Even creepier, they had guards patrol the cemeteries every night listening for the bell. Can you imagine how horrifying it would be to be patrolling a graveyard in the middle of the night and hear that bell in the distance?
I'd always heard of this movie and decided it would a GREAT idea to watch it by myself at 1 in the morning. As a grown-ish woman....I think I was in around 28 I am NOT ashamed to say I slept with the lighfs on afer watching this. Going down the hall and anywhere else that evening, the lights were ON. This movie is spooky ooky in the best way. That actress though, having to lay there, props to her.
The way I see it is she was going to let the son live but the dad begged his son to kill him to end the pain but she wasn’t finished showing him the pain and because he broke the deal she killed the son

I'm at 23 minutes in, about the flower, they mention that you can be paralyzed by it but that does not mean that you're dead you just don't feel a thing, but you're still alive.
