It’s worth mentioning that this is NOT a true story. The Coens just added that as a storytelling device.
Marge is amazing. She doesn't show up until we're 40 minutes in, and with the short time she has she catches the bad guys, brings most of the comic tone, and while she's at it, manages to completely take over as the protagonist. And all while 7 months pregnant. This movie is fantastic.
Marge and Norm are couple goals. Love them! Also this is one of the rare movies where the main character's pregnancy is not the focus of the movie. It's just in the middle of her pregnancy. She doesn't give birth or lose the baby. There are no conversations about whether she can still do the job. Awesome movie!
OH YA! YOU BETCHA! Minnesota Nice means politeness, not necessarily good intentions.
Saw this movie in high school for film class and now I tell everyone about it. It’s soooo good. No boring scenes whatsoever, you’re always engaged.
This movie was a trifecta of introductions for me: the Coen Brothers, William H Macy, and Frances McDormand

"Oh yeaaah ? " "Yeaaaah !" "Oh yeaaaah ?" "You betch ya !"
I’ve always felt sorry for Scottie in this movie. By the end of the film his mother and grandfather have been murdered and his father was implicated in it and is going to prison.
The Coens weren't prepared for the shock of a relatively mild winter while filming. Snow machines had to be called in to make things more realistic.
