I'm glad someone finally said it!
The whole point of Superman is that even he has weakness. That’s why Kryptonite exists. That’s why people say “this is my Kryptonite” when talking about their weakness, It literally comes from this. He’s not One-Punch Man. What makes Superman great is that he also struggles, he gets hurt, he needs help sometimes. That’s what makes him feel more human and relatable. Since when having a dog or getting hurt is emasculating??? I mean bro, we need a plot, there's no movie without obstacles... I’m so glad I don't use Twitter. This is so ridiculous.

The fact that this needs to be a conversation is in itself holistically troublesome.
I think people are being overcritical of over a hyperexcited, not fully domesticated puppy dog jumping on a wounded Superman. Krypto is super intelligent true, but he's still a dog. Once he finally calmed a bit, he did what Superman asked. Based on what I've heard about their relationship, Krypto hasn't been with Superman long. He's a troublemaker, a work in progress so there's some character growth with him. It's played up for laughs and maybe it went a beat too long, but I have my own experiences with energetic dogs that don't know they own strength and take a minute to settle. So for me the scene is relatable. The Automotons are inspired from Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman, a whimsical, Silver age inspired comic series. They have different personality quirks programmed into them so while what #4 said is true, they're still capable of responding individually. #12 is brand new, she's not like #4 or the others and that's the point. Yes Superman crying out under sunlight is jarring if you don't get the context. The Robots are magnifying the sun's rays directly on his injuries to rapidly heal him at a faster pace. This stuff is not that hard to figure out.
The problem with today’s society with how social media has allocated your usage of it, is that it wants you to give a reaction. Social media now drives itself through reaction, engagement, and sadly the majority of the amount of engagement that happens that is prioritized is the stuff that comes from negativity, drama, and rage bait. No one is able to give nuanced opinions anymore that are their own. Because they know that if they even try giving their own opinion, it’s not gonna boost them up in the views, their channel is not gonna grow, they’re not gonna gain followers on their social media platform and that way they feel like they’re left out of the conversation. The real question is, why did those people even need to be in the conversation in the first place? They didn’t, but social media now has allowed them to grow even more into it.
I've been waiting for you guys to drop the next episode, I'm so excited for this one!
It’s so nice to listen to/watch a podcast about comics & cinema that’s actually mature and thoughtful in conversation, not just some echo chamber of prioritizing one’s own vision over being open to interpretation and something new. Much love RR :)
You guys have been the one constant in my life at the moment, I love tuning in and hearing the conversations about the things I love. I believe that everyone should go into these moves like its their first time seeing the characters. Be curious with it and just have fun
