Sonic The Hedgehog 2 MOVIE REACTION! Knuckles | Tails | Post Credits

For those worried about Shadow, the writers and director Jeff Fowler (who animated the dark hedgehog in his solo game) said that movie 3, is going to be very different from movie 2 and 1 tonally. Shadow is going to be a character hellbent on vengeance and anger. Sonic isn't going to be able to talk him down with friendship ideologies like he did with Knuckles. It's a whole other ball game. Shadow the Hedgehog, is going to be a THREAT.

Nice to see writers who actually respect the source material. Especially how they did knuckles in this film

No joke when Shadow was revealed my theater went nuts. Especially the young kids and idk why but it warmed my heart. Also someone shouted out “I’VE COME TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT!” If you know you know.

it's good that the directors know what we Sonic fans know what we want and it warms my heart so so much, the movie was absolutely amazing

Watching this movie in the theater along with No Way Home made me remember WHY I love going to the movies. People LOST THEIR MINDS at Super Sonic. Then Shadow the Hedgehog appeared and the noise was deafening. What was incredible was the slow build too; she mentions "dating back 50 years" and it was the KIDS that got super chatty. Then it cuts to the center, the container rises and people are cheering. Then Shadow boi appears and people are SCREAMING. And he opens his eyes and at "My God. Project Shadow." the audience is screaming, cheering, clapping, hooting, hollering, college dude bros next to me were jumping up and down, so I started shrieking it was great. Sonic is about to become the ONLY other film franchise along side the marvel cinematic universe, that has a cinematic universe, that FEELS like it was built from the ground up even though like Marvel, they're based on pre-existing things-the games and comics. What these two film franchises do, is take that source material, and rework it to fit the medium of film. They do the slow build. And it pays off. How is it that Sonic is getting thigs right out the gate, and DC is still screwing things up in 2022. It's embarrassing.

Fun fact, Idris Elba, had presented the producers with four other voice variations for Knuckles; Rocky, Micky Mouse, Arnold Swartzeneger, and highland Scottish. As you've noticed, he was told to just use his natural British accent.

To touch on what the actors see on set when they're interacting with the CG characters, they've said in behind the scenes interviews (and we've gotten glimpses of this through set leaks last year) they have the life-size dummy models on set. They do a take with the dummy models in the shot, and then they'll do a take without the models, and instead use a rig with coloured balls on it to denote the CG character's eye line and such. James Marsden is seriously underrated with this kind of acting though. Since he's done, like, 50 of these 'CG buddy movies', he has a ton of experience acting against basically nothing. So you have these scenes of him in a boat on a lake, and he's just having a heart to heart with Sonic, and you completely forget that he's actually alone in that boat, talking to thin air.

Easily the BEST video game film I've seen, I'm just happy that the team behind this film finally embrace the lore and tone to what the Sonic franchise is all about.
