I understand there are some valid criticisms of the show, but there is one that I really do not understand. Some people (not you two) are saying “why did they make Sauron Jesus like”. Annatar is the form Sauron uses to trick Celembribor into thinking he was sent by the Valar. He is supposed to be very angelic like. This is directly from Tolkien yet it amazes me some would criticize it lol. Edit: to make it easier for you both, just call Celebrimbor “Brimby” haha
I enjoyed season 1 more than it seems most people did, but this season is definitely so much better, I’ve been loving it
"These moths are collectively Slim Shady" was a weird prediction to get right 😅
"He has crazy power, why doesn't he ever use it?" Said right after he uses it lol. But in all seriousness, the reason he doesn't show his power that often is because Sauron's greatest power is deception. He fully commits to whatever character he needs to be to fool the people he is around to get what he wants. If he used his power all the time people would realize who he is and he wouldn't get the rings he needs
Greg be acting like Galadriel, always assuming he is right, assuming he is in control lol..
Season 2 is an easy 10 so far
Sauron's got a combo of Palpatine & Dracula tendencies this season = makes this season of ROP (so far) that much more interesting than the first IMO
So regarding your questions about why Sauron has all this power and doesn’t seem to be using it… Sauron has a long game to play here. Just walking up, displaying his power and forcing folks to do his bidding is a quick way to creating enemies and rebels. Instead he’s trying to manipulate all of the peoples of middle earth while he continues to grow his power. As we all know, ultimately he is going to forge the one ring which will control all. But before he can get to that, he’s got to convince everybody that the rings are good things for them to have.
According to the books, the will of the Orcs is directly linked to Morgoth. They can rebel against Sauron. They mocked the image of Annatar. It took him 90 years to bring the Orcs under his will. source "the history of middle earth-Morgoth's Ring-Orc" and "the nature of middle earth -part xvııı "
