Description

Diary Of A Reel Rejects Episode 7...In all the time I've known, I've never seen him get quite so vulnerable on camera before. This episode of Diary of a Reel Reject is one of my favorites. I'll tell you the real deal...while getting some SEO words in here so I stop getting emails from people who can "fix the channel." Sitting down with Coy Jandreau - DC Studios Comic Correspondent - someone I’ve been friends with for so long, and getting him to open up the way he does here was something truly special. Sure, we talk about Marvel, like Robert Downey Jr. playing Dr Doom and how he really doesn't like it, and dive into the state of the industry—stuff that I know you all love to hear about—but this conversation goes so much deeper than that. I don't know if we talk about Superman. Coy really opens up about his upbringing with a big family, being surrounded by movies and comics, and how those stories shaped his sense of morality. He talks about rejecting traditional ideas of right and wrong and instead finding inspiration from the heroes he grew up with—characters who taught him about strength, kindness, and staying true to yourself. We also get really personal, with Coy sharing his biggest fear: losing his identity or sense of self. We talk about movies like Memento and Awakenings that hit him hard because of this fear, and how he processes that through storytelling. He also shares his struggles with emotional vulnerability, like finding it hard to cry as an adult, and the rare moments where movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 break through that wall. Of course, there’s plenty of fun stuff too—talking about his celebrity crush on Shannon Sossamon, his admiration for actors like Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), and even his frustrations with the internet’s negativity toward art. Coy’s honesty and love for movies, comics, and creativity shine through this whole conversation, and I hope you find it as meaningful as I did. #DiaryOfAReelReject #GregAlba #CoyJandreau #MoviePodcast #MovieDiscussion #RobertDowneyJr #DoctorDoom #MarvelRumors #TylerDurden #TomHardy #JakeGyllenhaal #FightClub #Memento #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy3 #SuperheroMovies #DCComics #FilmIndustry #Storytelling #InternetToxicity #EmotionalVulnerability 0:00 - Introduction to Diary of a Reel Reject 1:00 - Turduckeny and Interviewing Friends 4:24 - Coy's Celebrity Crush 9:29 - Coy's Childhood, Goat Stories, and Family Life 15:35 - Growing Up with Movies and Comic Books 22:53 - Movies That Shaped Coy’s Life 33:21 - Crying and Emotional Blockages 41:00 - Influence Of Celebrities 54:15 - The Lessons of Fight Club 59:05 - Anxiety & Fear Of Losing Identity 1:03:12 - Masculinity in Movies and Real Life 1:06:00 - Why Spider-Man Is So Relatable 1:10:55 - Internet Negativity and the Need to Celebrate Art 1:18:31 - Comic Book Movie That HURTS The Most 1:21:17 - A Movie You Never Stop Thinking About 1:27:00 - Fiance & Wife 1:37:50 - Villain Identify With 1:43:45 - State of the Film Industry and the Future of Storytelling 1:48:19 - Robert Downey Jr Doctor Doom opinion... 1:56:20 - Final Thoughts: Movies, Morality, and Life Lessons Follow Coy Jandreau: Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@CoyJandreau Ryan Arey Speaks His Truth:https://youtu.be/oVdJMdHcgi4 Dan Murrell Interview: https://youtu.be/qyj9oDJR8YM Reel Rejects & Cinepals https://youtu.be/2NMj84mAG2Q Support The Channel By Getting Some REEL REJECTS Aparrel! https://www.rejectnationshop.com/ Follow TheReelRejects On The Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/reelrejects/ TT: https://www.tiktok.com/@thereelrejects?lang=en Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ Get That Thing - Infraction Head Editor: https://www.instagram.com/praperhq/?hl=en Co-Editor: Greg Alba Music In Video: Airport Lounge - Disco Ultralounge by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow & Listen to Us Wherever You Get Your Podcasts!! - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3XHMwbveiznxSOGxN9XT0M - Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5tZWdhcGhvbmUuZm0vc3Rhci13YXJzLXRhbGs - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-reel-rejects-tv-movie-recaps/id1616339990 - Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Apocalypse-Podcast/B08JJP58FG Follow GREG On INSTAGRAM & TWITTER: INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/thegregalba/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thegregalba

Apologies for the editing hiccups in first chunk of the vid, gang. Exporting issues gone a little haywire. Regardless, still Mean THE WORLD If You Could *LEAVE A LIKE* On This Video.

This by far has been the most fascinating interview of the Rejects cast I've heard. I thought his roots were in Boston, but when he started talking about being raised on a farm and all the cultural spaces he's traveled through, I was immediately locked in. TBH, I was rooting for this dude before but after hearing all of this now I'm really hoping he achieves all his goals in the entertainment world. [And I was born a preemie too, and they basically told my parents to pray because I probably wouldn't survive the week.]

I showed my daughter “A Knights Tale” over the weekend. You hit the nail on the head Coy, it’s such an underrated film and it’s truly inspirational…a special one indeed, everyone should see it

It blew my mind the first time I saw Coy appear on Reel Rejects! I grew up in the same town in MA and worked with him at Bertuccis waiting tables. He was into acting at the time and pumped to see his success! Also cool that it’s content that I’m in love with. Keep it up man! -Calvin
