Definitely one of the best Adam Sandler movies out there. I'm still traumatized by what happened to Qbert at the end. Most tragic part of the movie.
Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it underrated? Absolutely.
The character was Max Headroom, massive in the 80s for a while. The robot was Grunt (I believe) from the Robotron game. I also couldn’t believe you kept saying cube instead of pixel. Things weren’t being turned into cubes, they were being pixelated.
I love Pixels. Such an underrated movie.
fun fact: the little kid in this, Matty, is the same kid that plays Bruno, Kamala’s friend in Ms. Marvel.
I honestly can't even tell you how refreshing it is to see you guys give a positive reaction to this movie. Lol, I was one of the few people that genuinely liked Pixels when it first came out. Glad to see more people actually appreciate it for what it is, which is a fun sci-fi action-adventure (à la Independence Day) that's also a love-letter to all the 80's arcade games that were brilliantly brought to life. It's not the best film in the world or anything and it's far from perfect, but as far as Adam Sandler films go, this is without question one of his better movies.
And to think this film is directed by the same guy who directed films, such as ‘Home Alone 1 & 2’, ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’, the first two films of the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise, and the first ‘Percy Jackson’ film. ‘Pixels’ is a guilty pleasure of mine, really. I saw it twice when it first came out in theaters, and I absolutely loved it. Looking at it now, I love it just as much now as I did back then. Definitely one of my favorite films from 2015❤️
The creator of Pac Man didn’t play himself BUT he did have a cameo, Toru Iwatani was the repairman at their old arcade

27:15 - No, that was not the actual Turu Iwotani..... however, Turu DOES have a cameo in this movie. He's the Japanese man working on one of the games during the 1982 tournament scene. He wasn't given a speaking role, as he doesn't speak English.
