After launching a 24-hour challenge to raise $10,000 for the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center, the audience blew past the goal. Linda Harris reported that by midnight, 286 donors had given $10,925, and by 7:00 the next day, that number had grown to 324 donors and $16,163. An emotional Harris said she cried after seeing the outpouring of support. She said she is a volunteer and never imagined this kind of response. The museum, which is operated by only two volunteers, is still dealing with the damage caused when thieves broke in, stole the donation box, and damaged the murals and door. Roland Martin celebrated the audience for stepping up, then immediately raised the next challenge: hit $50,000 by Monday so the museum can quickly replace the door, repair the murals, improve security, and move toward reopening.
