They tore away the museum’s back door, stole its donation box and damaged murals inside and outside the building. Roland Martin spoke with Linda Harris, Director of Engagement and Programming for the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center, about the damage, the museum’s immediate security needs and the larger challenge of sustaining an institution operated by only two volunteers. Harris said the museum needs a new door, installation, cameras, lighting and additional security before it can fully reopen. She also explained that the museum needs paid staff and long-term support to preserve Harriet Tubman’s legacy for future generations.
