Description

Roland Martin explains how Jamal Bryant’s announcement about ending the Target fast sparked widespread confusion about whether the broader Target boycott was over. Confusion erupted across social media after Jamal Bryant announced the end of the Target fast, with many people believing the entire Target boycott had been called off. Roland Martin breaks down exactly what Bryant said, how media coverage blurred the distinction between the fast and the boycott, and why the mixed messaging created backlash within the movement. The discussion clarifies that the fast Bryant initiated during Lent is separate from the broader boycott that organizers say is still ongoing. Martin also explains how miscommunication between leaders and media framing fueled the controversy and left many supporters unsure about the next steps. We’ve launched our official Telegram channel. I would have preferred he had a conversation with the boycott organizers to avoid any confusion.

Pastor Bryant speaks for a living he knows exactly how to get a message across. If that’s what he meant then he would’ve been clear about it upfront. He single-handedly tried to make a decision for the entire black community and expected everyone to follow his lead when he actually knew better. Without that public apology, this is a forever boycott.

There is no confusion. Jamal doesn’t speak for us. He didn’t start the boycott. The 92% did. He just stepped in front of the women and took credit. He has no say on when it ends. He does not speak for me. Boycott is still 💯for me.
