Condolences to the Jackson Family from our Family here in Tuskegee, Alabama. Thank you, Roland, for this amazing service to honor the Legacy of the renown Reverend Jesse L. Jackson. A great Legacy, it is. Rev. Jackson visited the Tuskegee area to fight with us against the development of a landfill, which he termed a case of "environmental racism," during an anti-dump rally in September 2000. Jackson rallied against the proposed landfill which would have been situated near the historic civil rights trail in Alabama on Highway 80, highlighting it as a violation of the community. The Macon County Commission was scheduled to vote the landfill into being, however, after Jackson’s appearance and statement against the measure, along with local, state, and national media, the Commission backed down. The proposed landfill effort, which had aligned with dumping companies from New Jersey and other states, was withdrawn! Tuskegee and Macon County are indebted to Rev. Jesse L. Jackson for helping us to overthrow an effort that would have been a serious environmental injustice for us. Thank you, Reverend! May Allah Grant you the Best of Paradise. Ameen.

I Remember Reverend Jesse Jackson as a little girl in Gary Indiana at Horseman Elementary School what a blessing it was then as a little girl you have your wings now Reverend rest in peace 😢🕊️

I got registered to vote as a freshman at Jackson State University during one of his marches to register voters downtown! Thanks to you sir! One man's life will touch the lives of so many others!
