the indian media tactfully manipulated the older generation by throwing out words like "kpop obsession", "phone addiction". asked my mother if she knew about the case she said she did, and that the girls had killed themselves becuz they were addicted to their phones. when i asked her why not send them to school for 5 years she replied that they were so engrossed that they didnt wanna go out. i explained how they wrote about beatings, about being afraid of marriage where she replied that she didnt know any of those things. just goes to show how the media has been spreading lies, half-truths and misinformation to paint a picture of disobedient, out-of-control kids who fell prey to their phones. i feel so sorry that we, as a society, couldn't give these children the peace that they deserve after their death. all the people spreading lies and trying to undignify these girls to push forth a narrative deserve a special place in hell. society and their scrutiny literally led to their death and the father to escape unscathed
