To be clear, I am an old woman who has never fired a gun. I want to learn to defend myself, but not the point of this post. My point, nothing in this content “should” interest me. Despite that, I already know I will listen to every minute. These men and women inspire me. Keep telling your stories for as long as it is positive for you. You speak to more people than you can possible know
Served with 3rd bat 7th marines. From the corps to being a firefighter to losing everything the show has changed my life and brought me out of a dark place being able to connect with other vets and know I’m not alone. I made 100k this year and owe my newfound positive mindset to the show. you’re really doing good work Shawn thx
The ultimate validation for this man, is the fact that his son‘s when they become of age will be able to watch this and be so proud🫡
Guy tried to save my professors from the American University of Afghanistan. Grateful.
My parents were refugees from Vietnam. They escaped in the middle of the night on pirate boats and went to Malaysia where they were in a refugee camp for a year. My father in law served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. One thing I know is when someone is suffering from the pain and trauma of war, they never want to speak about it. It’s too painful to talk about what they have seen. My FIL and parents never spoke about what they saw or experienced. God gave Shawn a gift to be able to speak to these guests and have them open up and speak for hours. That is a gift of healing for the guest and the host. God bless Shawn and Chris. Surround them with your love and always protect them where ever they are.

Cody Alford, Tu Lam, DJ Shipley, Eddie Penney, Nick Irving, Dom Raso, and now Chris Fettes have been the most therapeutic conversations I’ve personally heard on this show. Thank you Shawn, you are really helping a lot of people and doing a net positive for mental health when you have guests on that are willing to have these really tough conversations.
I think the intense trauma that he’s experienced from the situation with those kids just shows how good of a human being he is.
I’ve had the privilege and honor to train with Chris in Jiu jitsu. We used to have some battles in the morning and I remember he told me once that he wouldn’t be at the next training because of some work related tasks. Chris was always super kind and super humble and little did I know these tasks were taking care of the American people. Thanks Chris for everything, looking forward to our next roll.
Shawn is such an amazing interviewer because he LISTENS. He doesn't cut people off who are right in the middle of answering a question.
