Did you grow up thinking the Big Dipper was its own constellation? What surprised you most about its real story?

These two never cease to amaze me. If you weren't a fan of science as a kid, I can't imagine someone watching this wouldn't also turned into an instant fan. This knowledge would blow my mind as a kid, but I'm THIS years old learning more about the big dipper for the first time and certain I'm equally in awe. Regardless of how clear your explanation of the information expressed in such a simple manner, your approach helps elevate the "WOW" factor when witnessing the beauty and magic that is our universe. Thank you for helping keep me a student of life and educating the masses about how freaking cool SCIENCE is. 🙏🤘 EDIT: Never had so many people like a comment from me before. I know it's not a lot but to ensure no confusion, I'm just a scienw/space loving dude who appreciates the time and attention these two Superstars offer. Consistently bringing it everyday. Thanks everybody and stay curious 🤜🤛

It's called 'The Plough' in the UK, which is what it actually resembles more than a saucepan. Thank you for explaining why it is called the Big Dipper over here. I could never figure that out. I thought it was named after a roller-coaster ride, but now the Big Dipper makes sense. Thanks.

Brit here, I’ve never heard the constellation being called the big saucepan, and also on skiing - yes the Gulf Stream does keep us warmer, but also we don’t have any mountains over 1350 meters. There are ski resorts in Scotland too.
