It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a... green comet?
Even into the 80's there was a horror movie called Night of the Comet and that was the plot line. We pass into the tail and it pretty much wipes out everyone on Earth leaving a couple of valley girls that thought it just wasn't very cool and stayed inside, and a bunch of zombies. I wonder if people still believed that, or someone was making fun of the whole idea.
The comet tail pointing away from the sun even on the way out was something I learned about in middle school and found it so hard to believe. Really thought they were pulling my leg.
Personal astrophysicists in-the-making/first day of school....here...uhh... Neil, you have inspired me to do what I love i.e. astronomy, physics first sem. I used to think this carrer was out of reach, so I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Maybe I can meet you one day, shake hands and say so in person, maybe have you autograph my diploma. Now that's a dream. lol
"Comets are space fossils." That's a _wonderful_ analogy you put together there, Mr. Nice! Quick to explain, easy to understand. I'm gonna start using that.
I love the chemistry you have in these conversations, laughing while learning with friends in the process 😁🤪
I love the comedy of their dynamic! This is a perfect fusion of my two favorite things: Learning & Laughing! Absolute public treasures.
Saw the comet through my 8-inch telescope today in Cyprus. And now I know even more about it thanks to you. Fantastic!
when "the green hornet" was broadcast in other countries, specifically asia, it was renamed to "the kato show"
I love to hear you say "Get over it!"
