Obsidaian going open source?
I'm 15 minutes into the video, and you're raising some really interesting points that I hadn't thought of. To me, open source is great in theory, but in practice, it's a real headache to monetize. I wanted to launch a product recently, and the decision of whether or not to make it open source is a huge burden. Your arguments about the “Building Block Economy” are solid, but it seems insanely optimistic. It’s nice to say that people will pay for the service, but in reality, many companies struggle to turn that visibility into actual cash without getting sucked in by clones or people who just want something for free. It’s a very “Silicon Valley” vision very interesting, but super risky for a small indie developer who doesn’t yet have a big community to protect them, I think.
This sounds like utter chaos
