ARE YOU THE FORK OF OF THIO
WHO IS THIS MAN
Somehow, the new hair makes him look less crazy...
Oh! Now i can differentiate you, dr disrespect and prime
Microsoft: Hey let's make VS Code open source Forks happen Microsoft: >:(
I will never forgive them for calling it Visual Studio Code and thus ruining search for issues with both VS and VSCode.
It is time for the Cursor people to vibe code an open and inclusive c/c++ extension that works in all VSCode forks. An awesome showcase.
I can't find the source right now, but Scott Hanselman(a MS employee) several years ago said: We are not as coordinated as we would need to be to be as evil as you think we are.
It's worth noting that at least for dotnet, the dotnet debug extension has always been only supported in VS Code, and against licence / ToS to use it in VS Code forks. There was a lot of drama about back in the day. This was much before Cursor.
The missing download button is also a major problem for many companies that VS Code. A lot of places have air gapped dev computers, so the only way to install extensions is do download them in a browser, let the IT Admins check if it is okay and then install it on the offline machine. The new required way to do this, is to install the extension in a vscode installation on an online computer and then copy the installation over. This is even more of a pain than it was before. Luckily there is one open source project I found where you can paste the marketplace link and if will give you a download link.
