Juggling with all of the sanctions, involved in a war & still keeping the house in order, should be applauded. Many other countries should take note, especially here in the UK, where everything is sky rocketing 😩🙄
"Everyone is saying interest rates are too high, thus strangling the economy." Do not conflate bankers with "everyone," do not conflate banking with the economy.
I'd rather have slower growth than high inflation and high debt
In a country with high private savings, high interest rates give a higher rate of return to middle class savers and restrain asset inflation. This policy while not being optimal for growth keeps wealth distribution more equal than otherwise.
"Growth" achieved through debt is not real.
Nabulina is cautious. She is preparing for situation where Russia will be at war with the west and the economy can absorb that..

Greetings from Russia! Thanks for the video, guys.
Clearly, Nabiullina does not make her decisions all by herself. There must be a committee of economists, modellers, and other specialists involved, who suggest specific numbers to her, and then she consults with the government too, including personally with Putin.
Thank you Alex and Alexander 👍🇬🇧🇮🇹
