I'm sooooo tired of the "hard life" defense. I had a DAMN hard life, no family that supported me, alcoholic and meth addict, homeless at 18. Psychotic because of meth several times. Never harmed any living being besides myself. Got myself help, got myself clean, got myself an education and a home. Clean from meth for almost 15 years, sober for 4. This woman is just evil. Judge got it right.
I absolutely love that the judge said What I was thinking How is it the father can say that the system failed her when he's walking into the courtroom in shackles for some awful stuff.
The word the prosecutor is reaching for is depravity. Utter depravity. It goes well beyond a “bad choice”.
Dammit Emily I was having a shitty day and your entire personality cheers me up. Thanks for being you.
Defence mentioned more than once that she came from a loving family - yet she was drinking alcohol at 6?! Presumably made available by that "loving family", then her dad ends up in jail for SA of a child? Loving family is really not the direction he should have gone in if he was then going to bring up her neglected childhood and show her father in prison orange.
Drugs are no excuse. Doing what she did was clearly a choice. My cousin had a horrific childhood. She had horrible experiences at times after her child but she became a talented nurse with experience in several areas in her profession. A childhood like hers is no excuses. My childhood wasn't great. I became an alcoholic. I new there was help but I didn't want it . When my life got to certain point, I chose to get help. I've been sober for a relatively long time now. I am lucky that I didn't make choices that didn't put me in jail but I did ruin a lot of relationships. Most of them are healed and I am incredibly grateful for the life I have today. There is NO excuse for her heinous actions. Sorry this is so long.
After sitting and binging tv shows all day, since it is my first day off, I really appreciate Emily claiming that I was productive, because I put the dishes away. I love have you around telling me where we are going today! Even if it is somewhat gruesome.
1:16:46 Replay crew! This just points out that she was diagnosed with mental illness early in life, knew of her illness, but can’t be trusted to maintain treatment (aka she’s a danger)
Me watching serious content: “The glasses logo sometimes lines up with peoples’ faces, tee hee.”
It’s irritating to me that her “family who loves and supports her” keeps coming up. Her family is not responsible for her. Her family couldn’t get her the treatment she very clearly needed before the victim was brutally murdered and desecrated. Why would they be able, willing or be responsible for her if she were able to get out?
