GO TEAM USA!!! Thanks for caring so much, Colin. Never ever been this stoked about the sport! Let's Go!!!
Reyna is a serious weapon off the bench. He's as talented as anyone he's just gotta put it together. I love this dude.
We got the World Cup hanging out with us for our 250th birthday, and everyone is having a good time! My favorite game is being celebrated in America and I’m so happy folks are getting on the bandwagon, because it’s fun. As far as the “no one watches soccer” crowd, what I would like them to understand that when it comes to youth sports, more kids play soccer in the US than any other sport. It’s 11 kids, a ball, and a surface than is big enough. Compared to any other sport, soccer doesn’t require exact dimensions to meet regulations and can be refereed by one person. Ideally three, but the youth level “figures it out”. What I’m saying is that’s a lot of kids, and now that we don’t have to pirate European streams like it’s the 2000s with the domestic broadcasting rights to the Premier League, Bundesliga, and La Liga. Our kids get to watch their favorite club and players. In another decade, soccer will begin to threaten others. Everyone watches soccer except the “no one watches soccer” guy. That being said, this is our year. Feels like it to me, so I’m all in: why not us?
I know Colin has said the greatest first half thing a few times before this, but he should've said greatest US game he's seen in a long time because the guy he's talking to scored in the second half lol
Colin "Rio" Cowherd 😂💀
So, as a brazilian allow me to give my opinion on this: The thing with the red card is—to translate it into American football terms—it’s like the Roughing the Passer rule, which made it almost impossible to touch the QB without getting a penalty. Even Colin [Cowherd] back then said something like, 'Learn how to tackle; the game changed to protect the most important player.' I'm paraphrasing, of course. The same thing happened to our football. You cannot tackle with your cleats up around another player's ankle. That’s a straight RED, because you risk breaking someone's ankle and ending their career. Just look at what happened to Djibril Cissé after those tackles. I think the debate should be why Messi’s [incident/tackle] wasn't a red card, rather than it being unfair to the USA and Balogun. The rule exists to protect players from those challenges. If you take a risk, arrive late to the ball, and almost cause a serious injury, the referee should give at least a yellow card. Then, VAR is there to correctly upgrade it to a red card if it was missed on the field. That is one of its fundamental uses since its implementation: correcting red cards, like elbows during corners and things like that.
That is not at all how I expected Gio’s voice to sound 😂
2:59 Colin called Gio, Rio 😂
Really appreciate YOUR development with soccer over the decades, Colin. Much appreciated!
He got that “ perk-voice “ 😂
