I'm old enough to remember when every fireman, butcher, baker, miner, farmer or other breadwinner was sufficiently appreciated for them to be able to raise a family on their sole income. Saturdays were paid "time and a half" and Sundays "double pay". All of this has been taken away piece by piece over decades

Every election cycle out here in California the fire fighter organization run commercials telling us that we need to vote for the Democrats.

You'd think the fact Newsome said he had a plan for the area less than a week after the fires started would wake them up.
This guy has the best point. Politicians and beaurocrats shouldn't make any decisions about critical things. The people that do those things should.
