Description

The discussion between guest host Russell Dobular and Revolutionary Blackout Network’s Nick Cruse compares housing affordability, homeownership, and economic policy in China and the United States, arguing that China's government deliberately reduced its real estate bubble to prioritize affordable housing over speculation. The two explore how differences in political and economic systems affect housing, infrastructure, and quality of life while reflecting on observations from travels in China and Vietnam. They also discuss organizing political movements in the U.S., debating reform versus revolutionary change, and the challenges of mobilizing working-class Americans outside the two-party system. The conversation concludes with criticism of establishment politics, arguing that meaningful systemic change requires building independent movements rather than relying on incremental reforms. In the late 1970s, my folks bought a 4 bedroom house for $23,000. My mother washed dishes in a restaurant, my father played piano in pubs. Neither had a university degree, yet they paid off that house in 5 years. Such opportunities have been stolen from today's generation.

By the way, a 30 year mortgage is not ownership, it’s a 30 year sentence, plus property taxes. That is if you could afford it. Laughably sad.

Say what you will about China. But in the U.S. corporate sits on top of the government. In China the government sits on top of corporate. That's the difference.

Expat here in Chongqing China. When I get sick here, I go to the public hospital, pay $2 for specialist consultation fees to see a doctor, do a blood test if necessary ($10-$30) and screening if necessary ($50-$70), go downstairs for breakfast and coffee, collect reports and meet the doctor again, collect medicine and go home before lunch time. No appointment needed, efficient, no exorbitant cost. And the local people pay a fraction of what I pay, under their healthcare scheme. This is a system for the people.

Wow. A government that looks after its common citizens rather than the rich. How novel!
