Journalist Richard Medhurst joins Jimmy to explain that despite the U.S. losing the Iran war militarily (with all 13 Gulf bases destroyed and the Strait of Hormuz closed), the empire still benefits economically because America is now the world's top oil, refined product, and LNG exporter— and the resulting high prices keep money inside the U.S. while de-industrializing Europe and Asia. Medhurst notes that Trump lifted sanctions on Russian and Iranian oil not as a favor but as a "pressure valve" to allow some oil back on the market, while the U.S. simultaneously sinks Russian tankers and cripples China's energy supply. He argues that the U.S. is transitioning to a "pirate strategy"—moving the energy corridor away from the Middle East and using naval power to harass global trade, which is America's response to de-dollarization and BRICS. He concludes that the U.S. can "win by losing wars" because its industrial base is shielded from conflict, and the real danger is that Europe and Asia have no independent media to wake them up, unlike the U.S. which has independent voices like Tucker Carlson and the Greyzone.
