Democratic Leadership Keeps Getting Worse

The biggest obstacle to getting democratic voters wishes done is the Democratic Party and its leadership.

The baileys is a wonderful reminder about what the problem is, he made a scarecrow family in his mind, a Republican would attack that strawman family, but democrat leadership will pander to it, rather than understand that is just a scarecrow you invented and called it the average American family. It’s really a disgrace that it’s even how little he thinks of the voters, that he thinks they are this Frankenstein of a family to begin with. Chuck Schummer doesn’t need a primary, he needs a psychiatrist.

This is why I worry about the incessant focus on Donald Trump, and relying on counter-gerrymandering as a strategy: the Democratic Party has defined itself as simply not-Trump, which has gotta be the absolute worst strategy to combat a populist. It is giving the opposition (and the ruling class) all the power to set the terms of acceptable debate. But the Democrats absolutely refuse to meet the moment by embracing a class-focused left-wing economic populism. You can see it in the NYC Mayoral race. Leadership, at least, simply refuses to go there. The paradox of populism is that once a populist gains power, they join the political elites. Then they either deliver or they don't. And the Republicans are failing about as hard as you can fail. The Republican Party is actually extremely weak AS A PARTY. They would not be difficult to beat if the Democrats would aggressively meet the moment in the eyes of their potential voters. And that group skews younger and more progressive. But they simply refuse to go there, preferring instead to rely on gaming out the electoral map. They wanna have their cake and eat it, too. But they seem to be unable to comprehend that no matter how anti-Trump they are, it won't turn out disaffected voters who justifiably feel disenfranchised. But leadership seems to be content with being out of power, as they themselves will get reelected no matter what, and the money will keep coming in. They ran on saving Democracy in 2020, then Biden let a handful of senators tag-team him into not delivering on his most popular promises. Then Harris inexplicably moved TO THE RIGHT, going so far as to promise she'd have a BIPARTISAN CABINET. Who in this country wants that? Only people satisfied with the status quo! I don't think I'm some political genius; to me, this is all so obvious that I can't imagine that at least some of their strategists don't get it. They had a candidate who could have won: Tim Walz. I don't hear many people talking about this, but to me it is so obvious it hurts. They had a guy who could have stepped out of a Norman Rockwell painting! Every single attack the Republicans tried against him gained no traction beyond their base. And he actually had a whole bunch of appealing political accomplishments. But they care more about their internal pecking order than winning elections, apparently. And when I say this, I am often accused of being a racist or a sexist! What? DO YOU PEOPLE WANNA WIN ELECTIONS, OR NOT? WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING HERE? DO YOU WANT EGALITARIAN POLICY, OR NOT?! I DON'T CARE IF THE CANDIDATE IS TRANSGENDER WITH POLKA-DOTTED SKIN. But so far, no such credible candidate has emerged, and I am interested in POLICY, not race or sex or whatever! This is what leftism is supposed to be about, isn't it? Egalitarianism? Flattening the class structure?

The Democratic leadership is literally so out of touch that either they don’t realize that everyone sees through their performative bs and would do better if they just listened to their base, or they’re just the carrot to trump’s stick, and are complicit in his authoritarian takeover. Regardless, Chuck Schumer is out there reinforcing the stereotype that Democrats are weak and cowardly.

All we can do is work around the democratic party. They will cling to power and serve donors to the end.
