Please start focusing on the part of the bill that would mandate all states submit their voter rolls every 30 days for the government to review!!!! That part is worse!
It is voter suppression. Republicons are not scared of voter fraud but are terrified of voters.
I had to visit the DMV in PA twice to get my RealID. I needed to prove every name change since I have been married twice. So, my documents were a birth certificate, marriage and divorce records for marriage #1, and marriage record for marriage #2. After all of that, my Google search told me the RealID is not accepted under the Save Act because it doesn't prove citizenship. Edit I forgot to add my SS card and the $65 fee.
Stacey Abrams had a good episode with Jon Stewart where she explains how it's not about having the ID. It's about enshitifying the processes. A Native American community in S. Dakota or maybe Wyoming had been a big ompact in an election & republicans didn't like it. They made the regs for getting registered so complicated & delayed & even ignored that many were not properly registered & couldn't vote
Where in the constitution does it say an ID is required in order to vote?
My theory is that the save act is written that way so they can be like "hey women we aren't taking your right to vote away, just make sure to come to the polls with your husband"
They want to suppress the vote, that’s it
The hot mic moment of Johnson acknowledging the bill would disenfranchise %15-18 of voters and that it would definitely help REPUBLICANS says it all.
Here's my voting process in Denmark: They send you a letter. You bring the letter to the voting place. You're asked about your DOB. Vote. If you forget your letter, you're asked to show your public health insurance card, which is issued automatically. The whole idea of "being registered to vote" is in of itself voter suppression.
If 15 million illegal immigrants are voting for Democrats, how did Trump win?
