The right wants to paint him as this valiant warrior wearing the armor of god and boldly fighting tooth and nail against the "violent radical leftist heathens". In reality, he was just some charismatic debate bro who would sit around college campuses using 4chan level arguments (with a much lighter tongue) and his massive platform and wealth to hatemonger and spread bigotry. But the christian nationalists needed a new martyr and they couldn't really use Trump, so Kirk was obviously going to get this treatment. He would have made Reagan very proud.
