Reminder: the average American pays a larger percentage of their tax dollars into health care than the average Swede. You already pay enough to have public health care, without the insurance premiums.

I live in Japan. Yesterday my daughter fell and got a minor concussion. She's 1 year old so we called an ambulance. 3 medics arrived within approx 4 minutes, she was checked on the spot - and taken to the hospital where she was checked more thoroughly. The ambulance cost nothing. The ER cost nothing. If we needed a CT scan, it would cost nothing. If we needed surgery or follow-ups, those would cost nothing. At no point in the entire process did we even think about money or insurance a single time. She needed care, she got it, period. If US citizens experienced what it was like to have a functioning healthcare system for even a few months they would NEVER elect to going back to this draconic insane shit the US is currently doing.

"Why are you supporting fascism?" "Because that's what you voted for"

The fact that when a politician now says "if you don't work you don't get free healthcare" people are actually BOOING and YELLING back at him gives me a bit of hope. Ppl might finally be realizing this system is flawed. Hopefully it's not too late.

I’m a physician, I cannot tell you how many hours of my day are required for PAs and for arguing for insurance apporoval of medicine and or surgery. I spend an embarrassing amount of time quarreling with someone with zero medical training to justify my evidence based, guideline recommended treatment plan.

The answer to “should that 28 year old non employed gamer get free health care” is yes, it’s a right and should be universal

The euphemisms are all gone. We have never been closer to a politician saying “fuck the poor” on national television than we are right now.

We do live in a world where the government pays for healthcare for free. Just not in the United States. Other countries do it just fine. But not us.
