I missed a court date and they threw me in jail for it. They spent the entire time judging my appearance and breast size and put me in a male cell. Was absolutely the most humiliating thing I've ever experienced.. and it's not because I'm some hardened criminal or deserved it. It's because I live in a van and don't get mail so I never knew about the court date. And the reason I'm being dragged into the legal system is because I tried to kill myself when I lost my home a few years ago and they charged me with a misdemeanor.

I was floored when Erin said it’s only been a few weeks since the KS law. I live there and I was cruelly let go by my job the same week so it feels like an eternity

I was in Texas awhile back visiting from Canada. I went into a store in Houston to buy some alcohol. When I got to the cashier, she asked me in a loud stern voice for my ID (I was over 40 at the time and transitioned 10 years earlier legally as well), and when I handed it to her she loudly said "I can't accept an out of state drivers license". It was clear to me she thought I trans and decided to give me a hard time. I thought about just taking my items to another cashier but just decided to leave the store. I had travelled all around Texas... Austin, Corpus Christi. Brownsville, San Antonio and never had a problem using womens washrooms... or even swimming on the beach in South Padre Island. Just that one woman in Houston who wanted to show her disapproval of me. While Canada seems to be more tolerant of LGBTQ people, we are not immune from going down the same path. We already have experienced attacks on gender affirming care for youth, banning of trans people in sports, and this could even get worse. Violence against LGBTQ people, and especially trans people has substantially increased since Trump was elected, because the "hate rhetoric propagated up to people here, including politicians. Most of those who target and attack our existence likely have never met a trans person, or even ever been affected by the actions of one. We will never really be safe from being targetted.

How dare these fucking fossils tell me what i can or cant do with MY OWN BODY! “Appreciate my sex.” I don’t think the GOVERNMENT should care about what I have in my pants!! This is beyond draconian and dehumanizing, they’re literally robbing Americans of their own bodily autonomy!!! Nobody has the right to my body besides me!

When people compare this to nazi Germany 90 years ago, they aren't being hyperbolic. This is happening. Revoking ID and citizenship, making lists of names, and heading in the direction of putting people in camps.

My state of Wisconsin just passed one of these anti trans bills. It's pathetic. The gop here doesn't want to address any actual issues, so they're trying to focus on a bunch of culture war nonsense at the expense of innocent people

I noticed more trans people from the south have moved here up north. It's so F@cked up to think they have to uproot their lives to find a safe place to live. This is America dammit! That's not how it's supposed to be!
