This Agent would not get a fair trial. The chance of a fair trial in Minnesota was lost the day of the shooting when the Minneapolis Mayor called him a murderer on live tv and the near same verbiage from the Minnesota Governor.
Minnesota has refused to cooperate with ICE, why should the Fed's do any different?
Minnesota poisoned their own well when their political leaders basically declared him guilty from the start.
They have no jurisdiction over a federal agent.
Highly unusual? The Supreme Court ruled back in 1890 that local authorities have no jurisdiction over federal officers. See: In re Neagle, 135 U.S. 1 (1890)
It’s a lot like states saying they are not enforcing federal immigration law, weird
The mayor said he was guilty 20 minutes after the shooting. It couldn't be tried in Minneapolis. No way. Poisoning of the well.
Dude the state government of minnesota is foaming at the mouth of the possibility of trying to make an example of this ice agent. There is no way on god's green earth he is going to get a fair investigation and a fair trial in that state.
Minneapolis PD openly said they would do nothing to support ICE. Why would anyone trust them to do a fair investigation in the first place?
“We wont work with you to prevent a problem from happening, but if a problem comes because of our neglect of our responsibilities, we insist on working with you.”. The logic and principles these people hold to is stunning.
